Dreadmoor Demo & Release Status

Dreadmoor release status: the October 6, 2026 Steam demo, the Q4 2026 window, and a verified status ledger covering platforms, price, and game modes.

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Everything on this page is verified against official sources — the Steam store page, official Steam news, and developer statements — as of September 25, 2026. DREADMOOR (App ID 3629430) is developed by Dream Dock and published by Digital Vortex Entertainment.

The verified status ledger

One table, every load-bearing answer, each with its source and the date we last checked it. When anything on this ledger changes, the rows update before any other page on this site does.

Ledger last checked September 25, 2026. Every row traces to an official source — nothing here comes from leaked builds or guesswork. When the developers announce anything, this table updates with a new date.

💡 Why a ledger instead of scattered claims

Pre-release facts move fast, and most confusion online comes from stale pages mixing old playtest facts with current ones. Every row above carries its own verification date, so you can tell current answers from historical ones at a glance.

The playtest timeline

Five playtests preceded the demo, and each one changed the game before players saw it again. This is the full public history in one table — the only place on the site that keeps it together:

WindowTestWhat it was for
Jan 2026First (limited) playtestFirst outside eyes on the build
May 19–25, 2026Steam Ocean Fest Fan PreviewFirst public playtest
Jun 2026Playtest roundIteration on fest feedback
Aug 11–17, 2026PlaytestReworked systems; save-wipe policy stated
Sep 10–14, 2026Open PlaytestAnnounced with the 400,000-wishlist milestone

Two patterns in that history matter for the demo. First, the cadence is roughly monthly — this team iterates in public rather than going quiet. Second, every test treated its saves as disposable, and the rework notes grew each round: quests, regions, fish, dialogue, tutorial, and the fishing system itself all changed between tests. The demo is the first build most people will touch, and the first that will still be there the next day.

Demo vs full release

The official Steam demo launches October 6, 2026. The full game is only announced for a Q4 2026 window — do not treat October 6 as launch day.

⚠️ Demo date ≠ release date

Officially: demo on October 6, 2026; full game in Q4 2026. No exact release date has been announced. We will update the ledger above the moment one is.

The September Open Playtest has ended

An official Open Playtest ran September 10–14, 2026. Two facts matter going forward:

  1. It required fresh saves, and test progress does not carry over to the demo or the full game — the developers said so explicitly.
  2. Its content is historical. The official rework touched the quest chain, region design, fish, dialogue, tutorial, and the fishing mechanic. Guides built on playtest behavior are obsolete.

If you played the test: expect the demo to feel meaningfully different, and start clean.

System requirements

Current specs live on the dedicated system requirements page, which re-verifies the Steam listing on a fixed schedule.

⚠️ Watch out for cached Steam pages

Some cached Steam pages still show older DirectX 11 / RTX 3070 figures — those are outdated. The requirements page follows the current main store page, and earlier focus-test announcements listed different CPU suggestions; official store requirements win.

Where each topic lives

Each row in the ledger has a dedicated page that tracks it in depth: release date · demo guide · Steam page details · price · platforms & consoles · system requirements · multiplayer status.

What to do while you wait

Everything actionable today fits in two moves. Wishlist the game on its Steam page — it is free, it takes one click, and it is how Steam will notify you the moment the demo goes live on October 6 or a release date replaces the Q4 2026 window. Check back here when either happens; the ledger above, the playtest timeline, and every detail page on this site get re-verified against official sources the day anything changes.

Nothing else is required — no signups, no preorders (none exist), and nothing to buy. The waiting period before October 6 is genuinely just waiting, and anyone selling you a shortcut in the meantime is selling nothing.
